Older Londoners' Programme
The Older Londoners' Programme at »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË provided information, advice and support to older people living in the Greater London region during and following the Coronavirus pandemic.
What was the Older Londoners' Programme?
Our Older Londoners’ Programme funded frontline information and advice, community support and telephone friendship across London. The Coronavirus pandemic exacerbated many issues older people were already living with, including loneliness, social isolation, bereavement, digital exclusion and poverty. And our under-funded health and social care systems, which were already failing to meet the needs of an ageing population, were further weakened, leaving older people struggling to access treatment and care.
The programme’s primary aim was to target older people living in London boroughs by providing in-depth, one-on-one conversations on areas such as (but not limited to):
- benefits advice
- »Ê¼Ò»ªÈË services
- housing issues
- community care
- money
- travel
- consumer and legal issues
- health conditions
- leisure or social activities.
Local advisers went on to offer information, advice, support and referrals to help the older person resolve the situation and achieve their goals. Our skilled advisors also provided practical help with tasks such as completing benefit application forms and paperwork.
The Older Londoners' Programme ran from July 2021 to June 2022.
